Cyberpunk 2077 Is Coming to Battle.net as CD Projekt RED and Blizzard Expand Their Partnership

Only weeks after CD Projekt RED and Blizzard revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was heading to Battle.net, the companies have unveiled the next stage of their increasingly broad collaboration. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will launch on Blizzard’s PC platform before the end of 2026, while an Overwatch crossover with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and a special Geralt cosmetic for Diablo IV show that this partnership extends well beyond storefront distribution.

CD Projekt RED and Blizzard raised plenty of eyebrows a few weeks ago when they announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered would be sold through Battle.net. At the time, both sides suggested that bringing Geralt’s RPG to Blizzard’s launcher was only the opening move in something larger. BlizzCon 2026 has now made the scale of that statement considerably clearer. CD Projekt RED appeared at the event with several announcements tying its franchises to Blizzard’s games and platform, with Night City becoming the next major destination for Battle.net users.

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is officially scheduled to reach Battle.net before the end of the year. The package includes both the complete base game and the Phantom Liberty expansion, giving players on Blizzard’s platform access to the full current version of CD Projekt RED’s RPG. Its arrival also continues Battle.net’s gradual expansion beyond its traditional catalog, following releases such as Sea of Thieves, Avowed, DOOM: The Dark Ages, and The Outer Worlds 2.

CD Projekt RED and Blizzard Are Taking the Partnership Much Further

A new storefront listing would not normally amount to a major creative partnership, but the companies also used BlizzCon to reveal plans connecting their individual franchises. One of the biggest is an upcoming collaboration between Overwatch and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Blizzard has confirmed that content based on the Night City anime will appear in Overwatch, although the companies have not yet fully detailed which heroes, cosmetics, or other elements will be involved.

The pairing makes plenty of sense given the unusual impact Cyberpunk: Edgerunners had on its source game. The Netflix anime helped trigger a major resurgence of interest in Cyberpunk 2077, sending players back into Night City and eventually inspiring direct references and items inside the RPG itself. Overwatch, meanwhile, has become increasingly comfortable with major crossover events, making the vivid visual identity of Edgerunners an obvious match for Blizzard’s hero shooter.

Geralt Is Becoming a Barbarian in Diablo IV

BlizzCon 2026 also delivered a more direct collision between the two companies’ universes. According to Windows Central, the event revealed the first image of Geralt of Rivia reimagined as a Barbarian in Diablo IV. Unlike simply selling another CD Projekt RED game through Battle.net, this cosmetic brings one of the Polish studio’s defining characters directly into a Blizzard title and gives the partnership a much more visible in-game presence.

According to 3DJuegos, the Geralt cosmetic will be tied to Battle.net pre-orders of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past. CD Projekt RED has previously confirmed that the 2027 expansion will send Geralt to the new region of Letten, where he will encounter fresh quests, characters, and secrets. The expansion is planned for multiple platforms, with Battle.net included among its PC storefronts.

Neither company is presenting these announcements as the endpoint of the relationship. Blizzard and CD Projekt RED have both indicated that more news about their collaboration will arrive in 2027, leaving plenty of room for additional crossovers, more Battle.net releases, or potentially other projects that have not yet been disclosed. For now, the companies are deliberately keeping those future plans vague.

The broader direction is already easy to see. Battle.net is gradually becoming less dependent on Blizzard and Activision releases alone, while CD Projekt RED gains another major distribution channel and new opportunities to place its characters inside some of gaming’s largest ongoing franchises. With The Witcher 3 opening the door and Cyberpunk 2077 following it through, the announcements at BlizzCon increasingly look like the beginning of a longer partnership rather than a collection of isolated promotional deals.
