Is There a New The Batman Video Game Coming?! James Gunn Answers

According to a recent report, Warner Bros. Discovery has begun production on a video game set in the universe of The Batman starring Robert Pattinson…

We’ve been waiting almost ten years for a Batman video game since the release of Arkham Knight. Instead, we got titles that belong to the same IP as Gotham Knights, or Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League. The latter is known to have failed in terms of sales and caused a loss of $200 million for Warner Bros. Discovery. However, some exciting information about Batman’s video game future came to light a few hours ago.

Yesterday, it was reported that a new Batman game could be in development, set in the universe of Robert Pattinson’s film. This information comes after a report by Puck Media after Warner Bros. Discovery executives concluded in a meeting that the video game division is essentialt to the company. Even though they were considering selling part of their gaming business months ago when they saw that their economic situation was complicated.

This information also reached the ears of James Gunn, co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios since October 2022, who came forward via Threads.

He said it was “not true” that a video game set in Robert Pattinson’s universe was in development. “Sadly, there is no truth to this,” he said. Many players were disappointed by this news. But the fact that Gunn mentioned the word “sadly” indicates that he also wants a Batman game. However, the character’s future in video games is uncertain.

The Batman 2 and the Penguin series are just around the corner

What is certain is that The Batman 2 is in the works, and the Penguin series is slowly arriving. The Matt Reeves-directed film will hit theatres in 2026, but it should be known that The Penguin will bridge the gap between the two Batman films. This raised doubts among some fans. Regardless, the series will premiere on Max on September 19th and will follow the events of the first film, which grossed over $750 million at the box office.
