TECH NEWS – Samsung presented its latest artificial intelligence (AI) developments at the IFA 2024 trade show in Berlin, featuring new products designed to enhance user experience across various devices, from household appliances to mobile phones. The event, held during the 100th anniversary of the IFA, provided an opportunity for the company to update the public on its plans related to its “AI for All” vision.
At the conference, Samsung showcased how it intends to integrate AI into various aspects of everyday life. The company elaborated on the two main pillars of its “AI for All” vision — “AI Meets the World” and “AI Meets You” — demonstrating AI’s potential to improve quality of life and enrich user experiences.
Benjamin Braun, Samsung Europe’s Chief Marketing Officer, stated, “AI has significantly grown in our lives, and we are proud to make it more accessible, showing how it can simplify everyday living.”
AI for Everyone: New Devices and Opportunities
Samsung’s “AI for All” concept encompasses a wide range of AI-driven devices, from smartphones to home appliances and entertainment systems. The company forecasts that by the end of 2024, more than 200 million devices will run Galaxy AI applications.
The SmartThings ecosystem already connects over 500 million devices, enabling remote control of various AI-powered devices, such as heating systems or Samsung TVs. According to Samsung’s research, only 15% of users feel they fully understand AI’s everyday applications, while 66% primarily seek time-saving benefits from the technology.
Samsung’s new operating system update, One UI 6.1.1, offers several new features, including Live Translation and Search by Drawing, which provide users with a more intuitive and faster search experience on the Galaxy S24, Z Fold5, and Z Flip5 smartphones.
AI Meets You: Innovation in Home Entertainment
The company also introduced its new projectors, the Premiere 9 and Premiere 7 models, which employ state-of-the-art laser technology and AI-based image processing to deliver high-quality 4K images on screens up to 130 inches. These devices automatically optimize image quality based on ambient lighting conditions.
Samsung TVs running on the Tizen OS operating system will receive continuous updates, including some 2023 models and all 2024 models. The new Neo QLED 8K screens, featuring the NQ 8 AI Gen 3 processor, offer an enhanced visual experience by optimizing content with AI.
AI for the World: Sustainability Efforts
Samsung is also committed to sustainability, aiming for net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The company plans to cover 93% of its DX division’s operations with renewable energy. The new AI Hybrid refrigerator, for example, combines two cooling technologies to minimize energy consumption.
The company also announced the new Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™, a compact washer-dryer combination that offers optimized cycles for energy efficiency. The SmartThings ecosystem and AI Energy Mode allow users to reduce washing machine energy consumption by up to 70%.
The company unveiled the latest developments in The Frame TVs and announced new partnerships, including collaborations with the Marimekko fashion house and Universal Pictures film studio. The goal of these partnerships is to expand the range of digital content and services available to users.
Samsung aims to enhance user experience with AI technology while offering sustainable and innovative solutions.
