Kratos and Atreus’ latest adventure is now available on PC. After almost two years as a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 exclusive, God of War Ragnarök has finally made its way to PC, available on the Epic Games Store and Steam. However, one of the major criticisms surrounding the release isn’t directed at the game itself but at Sony’s requirement to link a PSN account in order to play on Valve’s store.

This mandatory account linking has significantly impacted the game’s reviews on Steam. As of today, with the game freshly launched on PC, God of War Ragnarök is seeing mixed reviews on Valve’s platform. At the time of writing, there are 939 user reviews, 67% of which are positive. The main source of discontent comes from players being forced to link their PSN account when starting the game.

It remains to be seen whether the community will continue posting negative reviews, but it doesn’t seem as severe as what occurred with Helldivers 2. As such, it’s expected that the review percentage could improve over time, much like the player count. SteamDB currently shows that the peak number of concurrent God of War Ragnarök players is 22,967, a number that might increase by Friday or over the weekend.

Santa Monica Working on a New IP

A few months ago, news surfaced that a developer from God of War Ragnarök revealed via LinkedIn that Santa Monica Studios was working on a new IP. Rumors suggest that God of War (2018) director Cory Barlog is leading this sci-fi, space-themed project, but nothing has been confirmed so far. What does seem likely is that another project in development at the studio could be a new God of War title, as hinted at in recent job postings.
