First Silent Hill 2 Remake and Metaphor: ReFantazio Reviews Arrive! These Are the Early Impressions

The Japanese magazine Famitsu published reviews of both Silent Hill 2 Remake and Metaphor: ReFantazio.

The first Silent Hill 2 Remake and Metaphor: ReFantazio reviews have been published in this week’s issue of the Japanese magazine Famitsu! These were later posted online by Ryokutya2098. According to Famitsu’s scoring system, four of their staff members play the game and provide a score, from which each game is added up to a total score of 40.

Metaphor: ReFantazio received a score of 9/9/10/9 from the four critics, giving the game a total score of 37/40.

According to Famitsu, the game will take 80 hours to complete, making it over 100 hours, including side activities. According to excerpts from the translated review, “the gameplay itself feels almost the same as the Persona series,” and “the coolness of the presentation is on a different level”.

Silent Hill 2 received an overall score of 35/40, with individual scores breaking down to 8/9/9/9.

According to the magazine, playing the game takes 16-18 hours. The translated part of said review states: “The sense of realism and creepiness brought by the beautiful visuals and sound is incredible.”

Silent Hill 2 Remake will be released on October 8 for PS5 and PC

According to early reviews of Silent Hill 2 Remake, the game is reminiscent of remakes of Capcom’s recent Resident Evil games. The developers’ goal is clearly to make the series “fashionable” again. They also claim Resident Evil remake comparisons will likely be inevitable. At the same time, this is all right since the RE and SH games were rivals even in the “heroic age”, critics believe.

As for Metaphor: ReFantazio, it is scheduled to release on October 11. As critics put it, it’s not a Persona clone, but the team has brought everything you’d expect from a Persona title to the new world of Metaphor. “If the future of Atlus is swapping between a Metaphor and a Persona every few years, we’re all for it,” they said.
