Rockstar Games’ ongoing moneymaker (it makes so much money for the company and publisher Take-Two that no single-player Grand Theft Auto V DLC was made…) continues to expand, even with a successor on the horizon.

There’s a little less than three months until 2024, but there are already plenty of titles coming in 2025 (or delayed until next year) – Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Avowed, Monster Hunter Wilds, Atomfall, Borderlands 4, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Ghost of Yōtei, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Fable, Pokémon Legends Z-A, and of course there’s Grand Theft Auto VI, which Take-Two says will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series next fall.

This will probably include a new Grand Theft Auto Online, but until then Rockstar is looking to expand the current GTAO. Rockstar has unveiled this year’s Halloween themed content, but there’s one interesting one in there. You’ll be able to return to the North Yankton area. According to Rockstar, the new community challenge, which will be available for a limited time, will allow you to fend off the marching tide of the undead. The problem is that the area won’t be fully accessible. Only the graveyard will be accessible to players. Here’s why North Yankton is important: It’s where the prologue of Grand Theft Auto V takes place.

It’s a bit of an odd decision for Rockstar not to make the North Yankton region a free-roaming area, as this could be a big innovation for the audience, as there hasn’t been an area expansion in Grand Theft Auto Online for years. Maybe we’re being too greedy, but it’s not just the cemetery that’s going to be accessible, and it’s only a temporary event, so the region will probably close its doors again after November, as will the cemetery.

So the expansion of Grand Theft Auto Online will continue, but at some point we will have to talk about how Grand Theft Auto VI will take its place…
