New Updates on Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac and Sony Coming Soon?

According to an insider, one of PlayStation Studios’ mainstays is about to unveil its next project.

We can believe it, given what we’ve heard in today’s news: Insomniac Games has announced that there will be no story DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, so they have nothing more to do with the game (the PC port was primarily created by Nixxes Software), so they can start working on their next project.

It’s been more than three years since Insomniac Games announced that James “Logan” Howlett, aka X-Men mainstay Wolverine, would be getting a game as Marvel’s Wolverine was in the works. At the time, the studio only said that it was in the early stages of development. Some time has passed since then, and according to an insider, Kurakasis, Insomniac is slowly releasing the game to the public. He’s not sure if we’ll see the game at The Game Awards at the end of the year or sometime else, but the former would make sense since it’s scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 sometime in 2025.

Last December, Insomniac Games was hit by a ransomware attack that leaked many of its projects. Among them was Marvel’s Wolverine, but we don’t know yet if this led to a delay. Fan studies at the time suggested that there might be a cooperative multiplayer element to the game, which would be odd since Logan is very much a lone wolf. Will Deadpool join him for free after this year’s movie?

All we officially know about Marvel’s Wolverine at the moment is that Brian Horton and Cameron Christian are the two directors (they last worked together on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales) and Mary Kenney, Walt Williams and Nick Folkman are the three writers. Kenney co-wrote Miles Morales with Ben Arfman, while Williams and Folkman worked on Spider-Man 2. The game is a new original story set in the same Marvel universe as the studio’s three Spider-Man games.

When will Logan appear?
