SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have revealed more about the side story of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth (it’s a Gaiden title, only this time without the western name).
The premise of the story is that half a year after fighting alongside Kiryu in the Millenium Tower, Goro Majima washes up on an island beach amidst the debris of a shipwreck. A young islander, Noah, saves his life, but Majima awakens with no memories – not even his own name. The only clues to his past are the tattoo on his back and the dagger at his side. Suddenly, pirate-like ruffians appear, seemingly from the Age of Discovery. After quickly defeating them and hijacking their ship, Majima decides to embark on a high-seas adventure to regain his memories and repay Noah by fulfilling his dream of seeing the world. However, rumors of a legendary treasure have stirred the waters around the outlaw paradise known as Madlantis. Captain Majima and his crew are about to take the plunge into the powder-keg world of seafaring villains.
We covered most of the cast at the time of the announcement, so let’s just focus on the new characters for now. Moana Rich (voiced by Reina Ueda) is the face of the Rich Island Bar. She is Jason’s daughter and Noah’s big sister. Moana works diligently at the bar every day, and her cheerful demeanor always brightens up the place. Thanks to her, the bar manages to stay afloat despite the lack of customers. Although there is a significant age difference between her and Noah, the two get along well. Naomi Rich (Yoko Hikasa) is Queen Michele’s muscle and protector. Daughter of Jason and older sister to Noah and Moana. After attending university in Honolulu, Jason has lost track of her whereabouts. Queen Michele (Romi Park) is the ruler of Madlantis. She brought back the Age of Discovery. One of the leaders of Madlantis. In her youth, she gained notoriety as the belle of Hawaii’s criminal underworld. Her aristocratic tastes led her to create the Pirate Coliseum. A swarm of subordinates follows her wherever she goes. Raymond Law (Miou Tanaka) manages the money on Madlantis. A magnate who has earned the nickname “Pirate King”. Together with Queen Michele he rules Madlantis. After the queen came up with the idea for the Pirate Coliseum, he signed on as manager and turned it into a profitable business.

Rich Island is the remote island where Majima washes ashore after losing his memory. A boy named Noah Rich lives there with his family. Originally a nameless island, Noah’s grandfather took the liberty of naming it after himself. Rich Island is mostly inhabited by fishermen, but the shipping industry is poor and boats from Honolulu only stop by every few months. In addition, there is only one bar on the island – the one run by Noah’s father, Jason. The pirates stationed on the island often stop here for a bit of R&R. Madlantis is a secret island where several criminal organizations coexist. Hidden in a cave on the island is a sprawling entertainment district built around a fleet of massive tankers. It is home to the Pirates’ Coliseum, where pirates constantly engage in sea battles. Some have found fame and fortune in the Coliseum, while others have had their lives destroyed by it. Those who show promise are scouted and invited to Queen Michele’s audience chamber.
The Pirate Lords are the top brass of the crime syndicate that rules Madlantis. Queen Michele rules the criminal underworld as its charismatic leader and founder of the Pirate Coliseum. Mortimer is the reigning champion of the Pirates’ Coliseum and commands a large pirate fleet as its Admiral. Raymond Law oversees all business on Madlantis and continues to amass a vast fortune. Nele Island is a holy site of the Palekana, an ancient religious group based in Hawaii. It is home to a particularly devout group of believers known as the Haku. The island is considerably larger than Rich Island and has a proper harbor. Before Hawaii was annexed by the U.S., the Palekana established settlements all over the island. Now, ex-yakuza volunteers have taken up residence in prefabricated huts near the Palekana training grounds. Palekana worshippers and ex-yakuza from Japan coexist on Nele Island. Nele Island has become a dumping ground for nuclear waste due to the problematic legacy of the former Palekana sage. To solve this problem, the ex-Yakuza, led by Shigaki, have volunteered to clean up the island. Among them are ex-Majima family members Minami and Nishida, both of whom are concerned about Majima’s safety.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza will be released a week earlier than previously planned on February 21st for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
