Helldivers 2 won the best console game, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth won 4 awards at the Golden Joystick Awards 2024, but the main prize was not just anyone…
Awards and recognition are important for companies and the video game industry, as they reward developers’ efforts to release quality products. Events like the Golden Joystick Awards 2024 can not only boost sales of individual titles but also serve as recognition for the work done on the development and release of games over several years. One of the best of this year was undoubtedly Black Myth: Wukong, and we can already congratulate its creators on winning the most important award.
Not quite like in 2023, when Baldur’s Gate 3 swept the Golden Joystick Awards, but this year, Black Myth: Wukong won the “Ultimate Game of the Year” title at the awards ceremony. The Game Science title received a separate award, but Helldivers 2 was also singled out in the ‘Best Console Game’ category, despite its greatest success on PC, with millions of copies sold.

GamesRadar has shared the winners list, and one of the conclusions we’ve drawn is that Black Myth: Wukong’s rise is followed by Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Square Enix’s JRPG swept the board in the storytelling, characters, and soundtrack categories. It’s undoubtedly one of the favourites for The Game Awards 2024, alongside Wukong, which was recognized for its graphical performance.
The other, slightly surprising big gun is Balatro. The indie card game, which won two awards in the indie category, while Astro Bot won Best Studio (Team Asobi) and Best Sound Design. Amazon’s Fallout TV series also stands out as Best Video Game Adaptation, and in terms of hardware, the Steam Deck OLED was the winner. In what may be a surprising choice for some, Satisfactory was chosen as Best PC Game. Also, Chained Together, which won the Streamer Award.
