Some Cyberpunk 2077 fans were devastated by the news – but Rocket League players have something to celebrate…
It’s a sad day for some Cyberpunk 2077 fans. Despite knowing that CD Projekt Red would be halting development on the RPG, many were hoping that they would make an exception with one more update. Although the game launched in a disappointing state, with many bugs and glitches, CD Projekt Red has worked hard over the past few years to bring the RPG to its current state.
Thanks to regular updates, patches, and the award-winning Phantom Liberty expansion, Cyberpunk 2077 is now considered one of the best in the genre, which makes this latest news even more disappointing.
With Sony’s latest console, the PlayStation 5 Pro, now out and offering significantly better performance than the base model, the studios are regularly releasing patches to support the new release.
We’ve seen this happen with games like The Last of Us Part II and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but according to a recent statement from CDPR, Cyberpunk 2077 will not be following suit.
In response to a fan’s question: “PS5 Pro patch and Black Friday sale so I can buy this game for the 3rd time?”
The official Cyberpunk 2077 account responded: “We currently have no plans for a PS5 Pro patch.”
While this is sad news, it’s worth noting that the game is already in great shape and runs at 60FPS on PlayStation 5. Honestly, the game only came out four years ago, has been continuously improved since then, and is nowhere near in desperate need of a remaster.
Cyberpunk 2077-themed surprise DLC is coming
If you’re a fan of the sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 and a certain video game that’s basically soccer with cars… well, you’re going to love this surprise DLC! Now, this neon-lit retro-futuristic world is coming to even more players in the form of a crossover with the charming sports game Rocket League. Developed by Psyonix, Rocket League was originally released in 2015 and almost immediately gained a loyal fan base.
However, when Rocket League went free-to-play in 2020, it became more popular than ever. Being a free-to-play game, that meant we saw a lot more microtransactions. Luckily, these in-game purchases are cosmetic, and to be honest, some of the skins for the speeding little sports cars are pretty cute.
We’ve seen a lot of fun crossover events in Rocket League, including X-Men, Ghostbusters, Spider-Man, Batman, and more. The latest crossover event is on the way, and it looks like it’s going to be the aforementioned Cyberpunk 2077.
Earlier this week, Rocket League teased some upcoming content via its official Twitter account with a very short, seven-second teaser trailer. The Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter page responded to the tweet with a few “watching” eye emojis, which all but confirmed the new DLC.
It’s unclear when the DLC will be available or what exactly it will contain. Hopefully, some of the cosmetic skins will include Cyberpunk 2077 cars, such as the Delamain No.21, Colby CX410 Butte, Thornton Galena Rattler, and Archer Quartz “Bandita.”
We’re hoping this is a late tease and the release is just a matter of days. Rocket League is available for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
