TECH NEWS – After SearchGPT, the Sam Altman-led company is set for another big move, and it could once again be Google…
OpenAI is constantly improving its technologies with new models and new platforms. Recently, the company shook up the market with SearchGPT, which could challenge Google’s dominance in search engines, and there are already rumors that OpenAI has already made deals with some tech giants to make the feature-packed newcomer the default search engine. But this is just the beginning: OpenAI is also working on a new web browser, and SearchGPT will be the default search engine.
OpenAI is already in talks with several development teams specializing in websites and applications. Examples include Eventbrite, Redfin, Priceline, and Conde Nast, and some have seen a prototype. The ground is getting hot under Google’s feet as the US Department of Justice wants the company to sell Chrome in order to change the market situation. (Would that include Chromium? Because if not, Google is essentially picking up where it left off…) If OpenAI shakes up the state of search engines with artificial intelligence enough, and Google is forced to sell, we could see big changes soon. Against OpenAI, Google has also launched its own search engine, Gemini.
OpenAI is also reportedly working with Samsung to integrate AI features into the South Korean’s devices, which could upset Google’s position, as the Google-Samsung partnership is quite deep. Apple also supports OpenAI’s technology in its Apple Intelligence features, so this time it looks like the Altmans could be playing with both hands.
If a web browser really does come from OpenAI, what will it be called? We dare not even think (BrowseGPT?), but if there’s another behemoth on the block besides Firefox that doesn’t use Chromium foundations, that would be good for everyone.
