Nintendo Switch 2: Are Lawyers Targeting Genki for Displaying a Replica? [VIDEO]

NINTENDO NEWS – At CES, Genki, an accessory company, reportedly received visitors in the form of Nintendo lawyers…

At CES, Genki unveiled a replica of the Nintendo Switch 2 that the company modeled after the leaks and rumors. This is no coincidence, as the leaks about the yet-to-be-unveiled platform really started at the end of 2024. However, this news did not go down well with the big N either, as the company’s lawyers reportedly paid an unexpected visit to Genki’s booth. This was reported by a French journalist, Julien Tellouck, in the video embedded below (in French, of course).

According to Tellouck, a Genki spokesman claimed that Nintendo had already visited the company’s booth with its lawyers, to which Genki simply defended itself by saying that it had no formal relationship with Nintendo. He told Tellouck that they had not signed an agreement with the company, so there was no NDA, and therefore Genki believes that they were under no obligation to keep quiet and created the Nintendo Switch 2 replica based on informal forms from outside sources.

We should add, however, that this is not an official statement from either Nintendo or Genki, but later the big N told CNET Japan that the hardware that Genki called Nintendo hardware at CES was not official and that Nintendo had not provided it. So the company has admitted to the leak, and in the meantime Genki has clarified that they didn’t create the Switch 2 replica based on direct information, but on leaks and news that were circulating in the public domain.

So the Nintendo Switch 2 (which doesn’t even have an official name!) could be announced soon. The Japanese company MUST do this by the end of March, as the company committed about half a year ago to reveal the platform by the end of the fiscal year.
