AMD Radeon RX 9070: Already Competing with Nvidia on Release Dates?

TECH NEWS – The “red” graphics cards not only follow Nvidia’s naming scheme, but also try to compete with the “greens” in terms of release date.

On the website of Danish retailer Foniks, more information about the AMD Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT has surfaced. Both cards are listed as being in stock, and it also says that they will be back in stock from January 23rd. Both graphics cards are from Gigabyte and both are called Gaming OC 16G. The two cards look identical, but there are some internal differences. The site says that the cards will be available NEW from the 23rd, so it could be that some people have already grabbed the first set…

This means that the earlier rumor was not wrong and that we will indeed be able to buy the AMD Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT from January 24th. However, the prices in both cases seem to be a temporary (placeholder) dlog, as the RX 9070 XT is DKK 9299, which is about $1281, while the RX 9070 is DKK 7599, which is about $1047. AMD has already stated in a previous interview that the RX 9070 cards won’t cost $1000, and since the “seventy” cards are meant to compete with the RTX 5070 (and it will have a suggested retail price of $550), it’s understandable that both cards are listed too expensive.

No one knows yet how much the two cards will officially cost. According to Geizhals, the Aorus RX 9070 XT has a PCIe 4.0 connector, 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM, and the RX 9070 XT will most likely be available for between $480-500, and since the Gigabyte RX 9070 XT Gaming OC 16G was listed by one retailer for $530, that seems even more logical.

But this is not official yet. What may be official is that AMD will unveil the two cards on the 22nd.
