TECH NEWS – AMD has officially confirmed that the Radeon RX 9000 cards will not be available at the end of January, but will have to wait a little longer.
The RX 9000 GPUs are based on the RDNA 4 architecture and were not in the spotlight at CES.The “Reds” justified this decision by saying that they had too little time and too many products to properly summarize the chips and product lines, and we can expect more information at a separate event instead. Before that, the press was given a sneak preview of the architectures and GPU lineup.
AMD’s David McAfee wrote on Twitter that both the hardware and software for the Radeon RX 9000 series are in good shape and that the company plans to build a huge worldwide inventory of the graphics cards. He added that he can’t wait for gamers to get their hands on the cards when they go on sale in March. With that, the company has confirmed that it will launch the new architecture this quarter.

One of AMD’s slides also mentioned Q1 2025, so the launch is planned between January and March. Previously, there were rumors that mentioned the end of January for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070. The AIBs (manufacturers, e.g. MSI, Gigabyte…) were probably planning a January release as well, and they might have changed their plans recently as well. Many retailers still have listings between January 23rd and 25th, but according to AMD, there is no way you can pre-order the next generation GPUs that early.
The company may have responded to Nvidia, as the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 (rivals to the RX 9070 XT/9070) will hit stores in February. AMD will also sell the new GPUs, which will also be capable of FSR 4, in a bundle with the new Ryzen 9000 X3D CPUs. This technology may also make its way to the older generation, just as its DLSS 3 frame generation solution may make its way to RTX 3000 cards (we wrote about this before).
In the mainstream category, the Intel Arc Battlemage B580 might get some fair competition in the form of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and 9070.
