Resident Evil 9: Could a Long-Lost Character Finally Make an Appearance?

Capcom has been very quiet about the new episode of Resident Evil, but soon the Japanese company will have to announce what Resident Evil 9 is all about.

It’s about time, really, as Resident Evil: Village was released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (as well as the now-unavailable Google Stadia) in May 2021, followed by a Nintendo Switch (cloud run) and macOS port in October 2022, and then iOS and iPadOS versions in October 2023. So it’s been almost four years since Ethan Winters’ story ended, but the franchise must go on!

On Twitter, Dusk Golem, who seems to have inside information on the Resident Evil franchise, dispelled rumors that a veteran character who has been absent from the story for several episodes will appear in the new installment: “There’s a screenshot of something I said that’s probably going to be floating around, I predict, so I’m going to say it. Unfortunately, Jill doesn’t play a major role in Resident Evil 9. This hospital rumor that is currently floating around is 100% bullshit. I’m crushing the Jill-hopium now, before false expectations are raised. Wait for actual news about Resident Evil 9. Almost every rumor floating around about that game has been bullsh*t. What’s not bullsh*t is that Silent Hill got an F rating in South Korea today, and that’s exciting.”

Jill Valentine appeared in the very first Resident Evil in 1996, and then starred in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. We saw her in Resident Evil 5 after that (but then she was an enemy until we knocked some sense into her), so she’s not an unknown character, and even current audiences might know her, as she’s also in the 2020 Resident Evil 3 remake. He also disappeared from the last few installments of the franchise, so it’s no coincidence that many were hoping for his return.

Of course, this is all unofficial, so we’ll have to wait and see what Capcom has to say.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
