iPhone 17: Is It Worth Upgrading for Looks?

TECH NEWS – Rumors say that this year’s smartphones will have the same Dynamic Island and the design won’t change, so this time Apple will have to update the inside.

The camera module on the back of the device won’t change, so the size of the Dynamic Island won’t shrink, although previous rumors had mentioned just that. Thus, the 2025 smartphones of the Cupertino company will not differ in appearance from the iPhone 16, with the exception of the iPhone 17 Air. If the smaller Dynamic Island had been implemented, the camera cutout on the front of the device wouldn’t have been there (perhaps in a slightly disturbing way). So we’ll have to get used to it for another year.

Ming-Chi Kuo, a prominent analyst, posted on Twitter that the Dynamic Island would remain mostly unchanged, but earlier, another analyst Jeff Pu said on several occasions that Apple would use the metallic Face ID technology for the iPhone 17 Pro, which would make the Dynamic Island look slightly smaller than what we currently see. But if the technology doesn’t change, the size of the camera module won’t change either.

Apple introduced Dynamic Island with the iPhone 14 Pro back in 2022, and it was a big step forward at the time. It was less intrusive and brought some useful tools. The shrinking of Dynamic Island may come before Apple gets rid of it completely. Their dream is still a long way off, so you won’t see an iPhone with a front that’s just the display anytime soon. If the Dynamic Island were to shrink, users would have more space on the display and the dashboard feature would remain.

The iPhone 17 Air will compete with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge that was in the news yesterday (both will be quite thin devices, Apple’s could be up to 6mm thinner). Apple’s unique 5G modem could make its debut in this model, which will initially be weaker in performance. But all this is not official yet!
