Death Stranding 2: On the Beach: Is Kojima’s Game Launching Soon?

While we’ve been hearing a lot about the game’s retail release, Kojima Productions isn’t keeping those who want to experience a sequel to Sam “Porter” Bridges’ adventure waiting long.

Billbil-kun, who has a history of announcing PlayStation Plus (later PlayStation Plus Essential) games days in advance of what’s coming next month, has now leaked information about the second installment of Death Stranding. According to him, pre-orders for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will start soon. The basic edition will cost $70/€80, and a collector’s edition will cost $300 (we don’t know the European price). The contents of the collector’s edition are not known at this time.

According to the insider, pre-orders for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will begin in March, so the PlayStation 5-only release date for the game will most likely be announced during a roundtable discussion at SXSW 2025 (previously covered in more detail), where Kojima will be joined by Hideo Kojima, Norman Reedus (who plays Sam), and Troy Baker (who plays Higgs).

So Sony could be releasing Kojima’s next game this summer, although it’s possible it won’t arrive until fall, which is when the first game arrived on PlayStation 4. Of course, there’s also a current-gen remake of it called the Director’s Cut (we’ve seen many first-party, in-house Sony games on PlayStation 4 remastered for PlayStation 5, including Days Gone), and it might be worth picking up to get a feel for Kojima’s world… the Japanese genius is always capable of complex, sometimes bizarre things!

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will be one of the Sony exclusive titles of the year 2025… of course, this game will also be released on PC later on, as the first part of the game ended its exclusivity later on.
