Recently, it is becoming more often to see video games receiving movie adaptations – remember: previously we wrote about Borderlands getting a movie, Sony is slowly, but steadily putting the Uncharted movie together and Ratchet & Clank will get an animated movie next year too. It looks like another franchise is going to get in line.
20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment decided to team up and get a Mega Man movie together. This is interesting, because despite the franchise being almost 30 years old (it debuted in December 1987), there hasn’t been an official movie of it, only two cartoon series, if we only consider the original storyline.
From Chernin, David Chernin himself will be the director, and David Ready and Michael Finfer will oversee production – they already have worked together on the new Planet of the Apes movies. From Fox, Mike Ireland and Ryan Horrigan will be overseeing this project.
What will be the end result? We’ll see it in the future, but there has been fan-made movies of Mega Man already. Here’s the 2010 movie by Eddie LeBron, which isn’t that bad…
