Holstin: Sonka Will Soon Resort to Crowdfunding [VIDEO]

A game in the psychological survival horror genre from Polish developers will soon launch a Kickstarter campaign to finish development.

The goal of the Kickstarter (which will be launched sometime this summer) is not only to raise money to complete the final phase of the studio’s game development, but also to fund additional features and ideas with the proceeds.

Hamka has also released an extended gameplay video, which gives a glimpse into the range of weapons at our disposal as we fight for survival in a creepy 90’s Polish lakeside town that is being consumed by unsettling horrors. Weapons include pistols, semi-automatic rifles, grenades, flash bangs, Molotov cocktails, sniper rifles, Uzis, and bows.

Holstin uses Sonka’s proprietary 2XD rendering technology, which allows the team to create real-time lighting in detailed pixel art environments, as well as multiple camera modes in an unprecedented way. The game features multiple perspectives, including isometric 3D, over-the-shoulder third-person shooting, first-person driving, top-down exploration and side-scrolling platforming. Holstin is heavily inspired by the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series, with the narrative team aiming for a darker Twin Peaks feel.

Holstin is set in November 1992, so it takes place in the post-Soviet era. It’s set in Jeziorne-Colonia, and we have to find our lost friend and escape before we’re clawed through a small town where we have to talk to the locals who are slowly losing their minds. The game will be fully dubbed in Polish and English, so there’s no language barrier to worry about.

Holstin doesn’t even have a release date yet (we’re guessing 2026), and the target platforms aren’t very specific, as it will be released for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The Polish adventure will probably also be released for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as well as Xbox Series and Xbox One.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
