Is Another Nvidia Graphics Card Added to the Chinese Ban List?

TECH NEWS – The company led by Jensen Huang could be preparing to ban another graphics card aimed at the Chinese market from being sold in the country.

The export of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090D to China could also be banned under new restrictions imposed by the Trump administration. China’s consumer and professional technology markets have been going through a rough patch in recent quarters, with new (and tighter) export restrictions being introduced essentially on a monthly basis. After the US government banned the sale of Nvidia’s H20 AI accelerators in the Chinese market, the RTX 5090D may follow suit, as Chiphell reports that sales of the Blackwell flagship have been suspended in the region, with the company telling AIBs (manufacturers) to stop sales for the time being.

There is no official reason for the suspension of sales, but Chiphell believes that this is a precautionary move by Nvidia, as the company is also monitoring the situation between the US and China. Nvidia has been in this situation before, as they were previously banned from selling A100/H100 AI accelerators to China in the US, but Nvidia was unsure of the status of the GeForce RTX 4090, which was only banned after the fact.

Although the decision has not yet been officially announced, Colorful and Palit have already stopped selling the model. According to Benchlife, one of the cooling module manufacturers of the RTX 5090D has also received a notice from manufacturers to stop material preparation of the GPU, which could indeed indicate that the supply chain is preparing for a possible ban of the RTX 5090D, which is indeed unfortunate for gamers in the region, considering that this is the only flagship GPU available to them from Nvidia. By the way, the company has made a huge mess of the new export regulations (billions of dollars to be reckoned with), and this could give competitors a run for their money.

AMD is reportedly already preparing a card for China: it could be the Radeon RX 9070 GRE. And this really shows that Nvidia’s market share there could quickly disappear due to export bans.
