Frostpunk 2 Was Such a Success That 11 Bit Studios Has Announced The Third Game!

Of course, it’s still just a mention, but in the financial report the Polish company also gave us a date when we can expect it.

2024 was a good year for 11 Bit Studios. Revenues of PLN 140.54 million ($37.34 million) were up 168.9% over the previous year, the highest in the company’s history, and the financial report says that Frostpunk 2 was the biggest contributor. No wonder the Polish team wants to focus on that… but their older games (Frostpunk, This War of Mine) also did well. Together, they brought in 35.75 million PLN ($9.51 million), an increase of 13.7% compared to 2023. Frostpunk was certainly helped by the hype surrounding Frostpunk 2. Given its success, the studio has confirmed that it will continue to support Frostpunk 2 with upcoming DLC and some new features, as well as develop the next Frostpunk game.

“The sharp increase in 11 Bit Studios’ revenue in 2024 was primarily driven by new game releases during the period, led by Frostpunk 2. By the end of December, we sold 592,000 copies of the game, generating revenue of PLN 69.73 million ($18.55 million). We intend to diversify both the scope of our projects and their development timelines. This also means capitalizing on short-term, financially attractive opportunities. This underlies our decision to begin production on the next project set in the Frostpunk universe, which we plan to launch as early as 2027.

2024 was a year of hard work, significant challenges, and tough business decisions. It was also a year of accomplishments that we are proud of. We also experienced failures that we are confident we have learned from. We are entering a new year that we firmly believe will bring significant improvements in both our operational and financial performance,” said Przemysław Marszał, president of the company’s management board.

Despite the success of Frostpunk 2 and the exciting prospects of the upcoming new episode, 11 Bit Studios failed to meet expectations. The increase in sales did not translate into a corresponding increase in profit margins, as the company posted an operating loss of 2.84 million PLN ($760K). So Frostpunk 3 will come in two years…
