Death Stranding 2: On the Beach: More Freedom and a DualSense Controller for Players!

Kojima Productions’ new title will get a limited-edition DualSense controller, and fans are likely to grab it instantly.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is just under two months away from its planned release. As part of the promotional campaign, Hideo Kojima gave an interview to the PlayStation Blog, sharing more insights about the sequel. This new game will offer players more freedom and choices than the original.

“Death Stranding 2: On the Beach follows a similar philosophy. Players got to know the ‘delivery game’ genre through the first game. The sequel builds on that and gives them more options and freedom, especially in combat—you can go in guns blazing, or avoid combat entirely. Cars and bikes are also easier to access. As for the story, the first game focused on Sam and Cliff. This time, the story dives deeper into who Lou is, her relationship with Sam, and Sam’s own backstory,” Kojima said.

He also discussed the setting. Why did Mexico and Australia become key locations? “Mexico borders the UCA (United Cities of America), so connecting cities made sense. As Sam mentions multiple times, we wanted these connections to feel natural, not forced. […] Australia fit all criteria, and after much discussion, we decided to connect the continents through the ‘plate gate,’” Kojima added.

Sony has also unveiled the Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Limited Edition DualSense controller, co-designed with Kojima Productions. It will be available starting June 26 for €85. Pre-orders begin on May 22. The game also launches June 26 on PlayStation 5.
