Cynthia Harrell performed the theme song for the opening movie, produced by Kyle Cooper, preserving a sense of continuity.
Cooper was responsible for the opening cinematics of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Despite the two decades that have passed, the continuity remains intact. The core experience of the original game has evolved into something even more immersive: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of the 2004 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, bringing back the gripping story and engrossing world with completely new graphics and 3D audio to amplify the jungle atmosphere. Get ready for a richer survival stealth action experience. The story, characters, voice acting, gameplay, and music that made the original a classic all return, reimagined for modern consoles. This evolutionary leap breathes new life into every scene and rebuilds every corner of the world.
The battle damage system has been upgraded to show real-time wear and tear on Snake’s clothes and visible bruises and bullet wounds on his body. These injuries leave lasting marks, telling the unique journey of each player throughout the game. Players can choose the newly added, more modern control scheme, offering intuitive controls that allow them to focus on the immersive thrills of survival stealth. Alternatively, a classic control style is also available, capturing the spirit of the original game more closely.
Additional game modes include the Snake vs. Monkey challenge, where players control Snake to round up all the rampaging monkeys across the maps (a nod to Ape Escape). Another special game mode is reportedly in development for the Xbox version—possibly tied to Ape Escape—but no details have been shared yet, and other minigames remain unknown at this time.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on August 28 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
