An earlier-announced collaboration also begins in the French publisher’s latest game thanks to today’s update.
Ubisoft Quebec has released the full patch notes for version 1.0.5 of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The update makes the previously pre-order-exclusive Thrown to the Dogs quest available to all players. It also introduces a special crossover event between Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Dead by Daylight, featuring a brand new quest inspired by the horror title. In the patch notes, Ubisoft only hints at the quest’s setup: “As villagers disappear, Naoe begins to suspect a strange presence preying upon the people of Harima. To succeed, you must master unique mechanics to face a terrifying, otherworldly threat…”
A smaller collaboration with Balatro has also been added, providing Naoe with a new trinket and Yasuke with a special amulet, both inspired by Balatro. Additionally, Ubisoft has made two important changes to the parkour system: players will now keep sprinting automatically while climbing up or down buildings if they don’t change direction, and Naoe and Yasuke can now leap vertically to grab onto ledges, awnings, or overhangs nearby, reducing the need to run up walls.
The photo mode has been expanded with several new features, such as adjusting the time of day in shots and saving custom filters. Numerous bug fixes were also included, as is standard with updates like this. The Assassin’s Creed Shadows 1.0.5 patch is rolling out today for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
Still, it’s worth asking if this update will meaningfully improve Ubisoft’s struggles, especially since the company’s last quarterly earnings didn’t show much positive momentum. Perhaps it’s just a matter of time before Chinese tech giant Tencent swoops in to buy up the publisher entirely…
