Horror Fans, Get Ready: Silent Hill 1 Remake Is Coming—Konami Once Again Trusts Bloober Team With the Franchise!

Surprise! Silent Hill Remake is officially happening. Konami is once again placing its trust in Bloober Team after shutting down all doubters with the resurrection of part two. The Japanese publisher closed its Press Start event with a single image that electrified survival horror fans everywhere.

Silent Hill is more alive than ever! In 2024, fans of this legendary franchise returned to the James Sunderland saga in the celebrated Silent Hill 2: Remake. If that wasn’t enough, players are already counting the days until the arrival of Silent Hill: F on September 25. But Konami isn’t stopping there: they’re doubling down with another Bloober Team collaboration to remake the original Silent Hill from 1999.

The news broke at Konami’s latest Press Start event, which also showcased new info on Silent Hill: F and Metal Gear Solid 3: Delta. To announce the project, Konami revealed only one teaser image—accompanied by the iconic series’ theme—sending a wave of excitement through the community.

Inevitably, speculation erupted: is this truly a remake, or is Bloober Team helming a brand-new game? While the teaser left plenty of room for theories—especially as the Metal Gear team is also greenlighting new Polish-developed titles—Konami settled the debate via an X post: “We are currently working with Bloober Team on a remake of Silent Hill, which was released for PlayStation in 1999.”

That’s all the official info so far. No screenshots or gameplay footage have been released; Konami simply invites us to stay tuned for more. Clearly, the project is still early, and we won’t see it for months. Still, after Bloober Team’s impressive work with the Silent Hill 2 Remake, this news has fired up fans around the globe.

The Biggest Challenge in Making Silent Hill 2: Remake

After doubts swirled around the project, Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2: Remake turned out to be a major hit. According to the developers, the greatest challenge was modernizing graphics and mechanics while preserving the emotional core and unique atmosphere of the original. Since the first Silent Hill also captivated survival horror lovers, it’s likely the Polish studio will face the same pressure this time around.

Regardless, Bloober Team’s reputation is reaching new heights. Not only did they bring back the iconic Silent Hill 2, but they now have three major titles in development: the spectacular Cronos: The New Dawn, this new Silent Hill Remake, and a Netflix collaboration codenamed Project N.
