Two Worlds, One Mind: Are Alan Wake 3 and Control 2 Truly Becoming One?

Remedy Entertainment is pushing the boundaries of video game storytelling yet again. While Alan Wake and Control have both carved out their own cult followings, fans are witnessing the lines between the two worlds blur more than ever before—suggesting a new era where these series are impossible to untangle. Expect twists and narrative experiments that will challenge everything you thought you knew about these universes.

Although Alan Wake 3 hasn’t been officially announced, the conclusion of the second game left the story wide open for another installment. Thanks to Remedy’s growing connected universe, it now seems very likely that Alan Wake 2’s plot threads could be picked up directly in Control 2. This is where Remedy’s master plan gets truly wild: with the boundaries between Alan Wake and Control dissolving, they’re fast becoming one continuous saga rather than two standalone franchises.

At this stage, it’s almost essential to play both series to fully grasp the scope of Remedy’s universe—even if their core gameplay styles are wildly different. Control 2 is taking things further by pivoting into action RPG territory, breaking away from its original action-adventure formula.

When the first Alan Wake hit the shelves, few could have guessed it would become the seed of an entire paranormal universe. The Remedy-verse now feels like David Lynch directing The X-Files—there’s no predicting how strange things could get in the next installment. With a blend of dark atmosphere and offbeat humor, Remedy’s games remain in a class of their own. Control 2 is poised to deliver the next big chapter, and only Remedy knows what surreal surprises are in store.

Control 2 entered full production in February 2025, so its release is still a ways off.

Remedy’s Universe Grows: Enter Multiplayer

FBC: Firebreak might not have landed with the same impact as Control or Alan Wake, but it’s laying crucial groundwork for the next mainline game. In the Oldest House, messages suggest Jesse Faden’s role as FBC Director is controversial among her colleagues. With the Hiss threat still looming, it remains to be seen if Jesse, Alan, Estevez, or any new characters can truly overcome the darkness haunting their reality.

Control 2 is still in development, and Alan Wake 3 has yet to be officially announced.
