New James Bond Girl Front-Runner Revealed – Euphoria Star Could Shake Up 007 Under Villeneuve’s Direction

MOVIE NEWS – Speculation keeps swirling about who will lead the next James Bond era. This time, though, the rumors focus on a pivotal role—not Bond himself, but the next Bond girl—set to make waves under Dune and Sicario director Denis Villeneuve.

The latest chatter has it that Amazon and Villeneuve have made up their minds: Sydney Sweeney, star of Euphoria and The White Lotus, is reportedly their top pick to play the new Bond girl. Sweeney, known for her performances in Anyone But You, Echo Valley, and Madame Web, has long been a favorite with bookies, and now a mysterious insider claims, “Sydney is the leading name on the Bond casting sheet.”

“Denis sees her as hugely talented, with an appeal that connects with younger viewers—a must for modernizing the franchise. The two have spent quite a bit of time together, and he’s been amazed by her meteoric rise. Plus, Sydney brings athleticism and a flair for physical scenes, all while maintaining the classic Bond girl femininity.”

It’s important to note that this scoop comes from the British tabloid The Sun, so take it with a grain of salt. Still, the idea that Amazon might pair a high-profile young star with a lesser-known Bond makes plenty of sense. Sweeney has the fame, looks, and action chops to fit perfectly into the franchise—and this latest rumor may only strengthen her odds.

Who’s the Next James Bond?

At the moment, top contenders for the coveted 007 role include Aaron Taylor-Johnson (from 28 Years Later), Theo James (star of The Gentlemen), and former Superman Henry Cavill. Several new faces have also entered the fray.

More rumors suggest Amazon wants Bond to get back to witty banter and gadget-laden escapades, shifting away from Daniel Craig’s gritty, dark take on the character. There’s also talk of a much younger Bond, with Marvel’s Spider-Man Tom Holland, Euphoria and Frankenstein star Jacob Elordi, and Babygirl and The King’s Man actor Harris Dickinson among the latest favorites.

One thing is certain: Denis Villeneuve will be in the director’s chair for the new Amazon James Bond reboot. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker put it this way: “Some of my earliest memories are of seeing 007 movies with my father, going all the way back to Dr. No with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. For me, it’s sacred ground. I want to honor the tradition while paving the way for new adventures. This is a massive responsibility, but it’s also incredibly exciting and a huge honor. Amy, David, and I are thrilled to bring him back to the big screen. Thank you to Amazon MGM Studios for trusting us.”
