TECH NEWS – Due to its size, Apple’s new smartphone will have a shortcoming, and the Cupertino-based company has made a compromise.
The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be the thinnest and lightest iPhone yet, offering an ultra-thin design without compromising any of the iPhone’s key features. However, it will still come with compromises, including a single-lens camera design and the possible absence of MagSafe technology. One of the biggest compromises is the reduced battery capacity, which has raised concerns among users. The company seems aware of these concerns and is developing a highly recommended accessory for the iPhone 17 Air.
This accessory will compensate for the iPhone 17 Air’s reduced battery life compared to other iPhone 17 models. The Air is the only device with an ultra-thin (5.6 mm) design; standard and Pro iPhone models will have larger battery capacities. The company expects to sell millions of units because this will be the biggest change since the launch of the iPhone 6 nearly a decade ago.
According to Wayne Ma, editor of The Information, Apple is developing a case with a built-in battery pack specifically for the iPhone 17 Air, suggesting that the company is concerned about the device’s battery situation. The accessory will be a phone case for the slim model that includes a battery pack. While the battery case is a good solution for a device with reduced battery capacity, it negates the iPhone 17 Air’s unique slim design.
If you prioritize battery life over design, you’re better off choosing a different iPhone 17 model. The iPhone battery case might be worth it if you’re going on a long trip or want to take lots of photos and videos. In some situations, it can be useful to get it for its design. It would make sense. However, in the meantime, Apple hasn’t revamped the previous iPhone battery pack yet, and it looks like a good test subject is here.
It’s unlikely that battery packs will be made for other devices as the company increases battery capacity. In the future, the company will opt for silicon-carbon batteries, which are denser than lithium-ion batteries and provide more capacity in the same space.
