Details of the game, which will be in the news later this week (or tomorrow at the latest), have started to leak ahead of the official reveal.
Yesterday, a well-known and trusted leaker, billbil-kun, revealed on his own website (Dealabs, in French as well) that Battlefield 6 (that name is now official!) has a set release date, and also disclosed how the base console version will be priced in Europe. It’s no surprise that Electronic Arts will launch several editions of the new DICE game, but the pricing is what really made us pause.
According to the leaker, Battlefield 6 will be released on October 10 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (so Electronic Arts still isn’t taking Nintendo hardware seriously). There will be two editions: the basic Standard Edition, and the more expensive Phantom Edition. Unlike some other rumors circulating online, the Phantom Edition is not a collector’s edition, but a digital-only Deluxe Edition that includes additional, as-yet-unknown in-game content. Unlike many recent releases, it won’t include early access. Those who buy the Standard Edition can upgrade to Phantom Edition by purchasing the Phantom Pack.
The insider also revealed the pricing for both versions, and the news isn’t great for console gamers. The Standard Edition will cost €70 (approx. 28,000 HUF) on PC, but €80 (approx. 32,000 HUF) on Sony and Microsoft consoles. As for the Phantom Edition, the PC version will be €100 (approx. 40,000 HUF), while the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions will cost €110 (approx. 44,000 HUF). No prices were given for the UK or US.
Battlefield 6 will be revealed with a new trailer later today, so there’s a strong chance that Electronic Arts will also confirm the official release date for what’s set to be the company’s biggest release this year.
