Mafia: The Old Country: We Finally Know How Long It’ll Take You to Finish!

With release just around the corner, it’s no wonder the Hangar 13 team is hyping up Mafia: The Old Country. The devs have finally settled one of the community’s biggest debates by clarifying just how much time you’ll spend as Enzo Favara—and many are happy with the answer: it’s set to be a similar experience to Mafia: Definitive Edition.

The details came via a Czech interview with Vortex (picked up by Culture Crave on X). While there’s still no set number of hours, the devs were clear: “We’re not giving a specific number of chapters or minutes of cinematics, but the game is very, very similar to Mafia: Definitive Edition. We saw how much fans loved that game, and that’s the kind of game we really like to make—a linear story, a crime drama where you control the main character in a classic mafia movie. And that’s exactly what we want to do again, this time in Sicily, with new characters and familiar gameplay.”

If you want a ballpark, HowLongToBeat lists Mafia: Definitive Edition’s main campaign at just over 10 hours (13 with extras), and a completionist run at around 24 hours.

Fans have jumped into the debate—some praising Hangar 13, others wanting more. The optimists say things like, “That’s a great length for this type of game. I’m not mad about it at all.” (HanchoJackHTZ) or “I loved the Mafia remaster. No wasted time or filler. Good story. It left me happy. I’m in.” (MrInvigorator). Many would rather play a short, memorable adventure than slog through a 50-hour grind.

The €50 Price Tag Doesn’t Decide Quality or Playtime

Some would still prefer a longer game for €50—“Fuck it. No way am I spending my money on such a short game.” (DJMartinez06). Hangar 13 knows some view Old Country as a “second-rate” game because of its price, so the studio president addressed this in another interview: “The game’s price shouldn’t worry anyone because it exudes AAA quality.” We’ll know for sure once it launches on August 8.
