DOOM: The Dark Ages is now faster and more intense than ever, thanks to a new feature made for anyone craving an extreme challenge. The second major update introduces a relentless endless arena mode—plus plenty more.
There’s a new reason to jump back into DOOM: The Dark Ages—especially if you’re ready to test your reflexes in a breakneck environment. id Software and Bethesda just dropped the game’s second major update, luring players back to the demon-infested world with a brand-new game mode. Get ready, because Ripatorium is here—and it’s going to put your skills through the wringer.
According to Bethesda’s official website, the Ripatorium is an endless arena mode where players can customize each battle—decide which monsters spawn, pick the music for your rampage, and tweak plenty of other settings. For now, you can enjoy (or survive) this new challenge in three unique arenas.
Bonus Skins and Tougher Challenges Await
It’s not just new gameplay, either: two additional skins let you switch up your DOOM Slayer’s look. The first cosmetic celebrates QuakeCon 2025; all you have to do is link your Bethesda.net account and launch the shooter before September 1st. The second skin only unlocks for those who beat an encounter in each of the Ripatorium’s three arenas.
The update also brings the usual tweaks and fixes, with id Software improving the core experience: new difficulty modifiers, multiple weapon balance changes, and plenty of quality-of-life upgrades. If you needed an excuse to revisit the campaign, this might be it.
