Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, is feeling confident after seeing the publisher’s latest quarterly financial results.
Take-Two has reported outstanding results for the first quarter of the current fiscal year. Total net revenue reached $1.42 billion, a 17% increase compared to $1.22 billion in the same quarter last year. Net revenue from recurrent consumer spending—including virtual currency, add-on content, in-game purchases, and in-game advertising—also rose by 17%, making up 83% of total net revenue. The titles that contributed most to this record revenue include NBA 2K25, Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, Toon Blast, Match Factory!, Color Block Jam, Empires & Puzzles, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online, Words With Friends, and Toy Blast. Unsurprisingly, Zelnick was upbeat—especially given that the publisher arguably has the strongest upcoming release lineup in its history. Speaking to Gamesindustry, he listed the games set to arrive next year, including Ken Levine’s next title, Judas:
“We will be releasing numerous games over the next 12 months—this is probably our strongest release schedule ever. Of course, Mafia: The Old Country is available on Steam and consoles. We have NBA 2K26, Borderlands 4—which I’m very excited about—and WWE 2K mobile for Netflix. There’s WWE 2K26, and of course, Grand Theft Auto 6. We have Zynga’s CSR 3, Ghost Story Games’ Judas, and Project Ethos from 2K. This is the strongest lineup I’ve ever been able to talk about this early,” said Zelnick, adding that he feels good about Mafia: The Old Country, calling it a “wonderful premium” title with the right price and strong visuals.
Judas, with its narrative Lego-style concept, has been in development for more than a decade. Levine discussed it in a GDC talk in 2014 and again in late 2015. The game was officially revealed during The Game Awards 2022, and showcased roughly 15 months later. In July, Levine thanked Take-Two for not forcing Ghost Story Games to incorporate live service elements.
The imminent release of Judas is welcome news for the publisher, especially since BioShock 4 is reportedly facing development troubles and won’t be launching anytime soon…
