Activision Blizzard—or perhaps we should already call it Microsoft—once again couldn’t avoid major leaks this year.
Reliable insider Billbil-kun revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to release on November 14, which matches a rumor shared last month by TheGhostofHope on Twitter. Billbil-kun added that there will be no Nintendo Switch 2 port, with no information on whether Activision Blizzard plans to bring the game to the console later. Back in February 2023, during Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the company signed a ten-year agreement with Nintendo to bring the franchise to its hardware.
No modern Call of Duty title has ever launched on a Nintendo console. With the Switch 2 on the horizon, it should be technically easier to port newer titles—especially considering that Black Ops 7 is still launching on the 12-year-old PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while the Switch 2 is confirmed to be more powerful than both. Yet clearly, there are still barriers that must be overcome first.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will also have a physical release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One at €80. According to Billbil-kun, preorders will open on Wednesday, August 20, after Geoff Keighley’s Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase. As usual, there will be no disc version for PC, likely because maintaining it would be nearly impossible given the constant internet connection requirements.
The game is being co-developed by Treyarch and Raven Software. Its story follows the events of 2012’s Black Ops II. Ten years later, David Mason (once again voiced by Milo Ventimiglia) and his team chase a manipulative foe who wields fear as his weapon of choice. The game will feature multiple multiplayer modes, including a round-based cooperative Zombies experience. Developers have also promised improvements to the omnimovement system introduced in last year’s installment.
Meanwhile, Kalshi, the American prediction market and trading platform where millions bet on global and cultural events (including which game will win Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025), has made a cultural milestone by appearing in the Black Ops 7 commercial. The ad is a series of fictional newscasts tied to the game’s storyline. Midway through the teaser, a clip shows Kalshi posing the question of whether robots will replace human soldiers in the U.S. Army—76% of the fictional wagers voted “yes,” while 24% said “no.”
Speculation online suggests some form of collaboration between Kalshi and Activision, but neither company has confirmed that the relationship goes beyond the ad cameo. Time will tell…
