Lords of the Fallen 2: Will This Be CI Games’ “Empire Strikes Back” Moment?

The Polish publisher says the sequel will be darker and higher-stakes than the 2023 reboot—citing Star Wars and The Dark Knight as touchstones.

The original Lords of the Fallen (2014) earned an audience without breaking big; its 2023 reboot fared much better. Building on that, CI Games has slated a sequel for 2026, after spending considerable time patching and overhauling the latest entry to version 2.0.

Speaking to MP1st, David Valjalo, creative portfolio strategist at CI Games, said: “We’re on track and in the hardest phase. The sequel is bloody, bold, and brave. It’s a true sequel: it improves on the last game while carrying its spirit forward. It’s darker in tone, set in a truly unique environment, and the stakes are even higher. It’s our ‘Empire Strikes Back.’ For Gen Z, think ‘The Dark Knight.’

It’s a confident statement from a team that spent two years getting from a troubled launch to a substantial 2.0 update. Recently, CI Games permanently cut prices on the 2023 Lords of the Fallen and its entire catalog, citing a player-first commitment—widely read as a tacit acknowledgment of the rocky release.

Release window: Lords of the Fallen 2 — targeting 2026.
