[GC 2025] Onimusha: Way of the Sword: The Genma Experiments [VIDEO]

Capcom has released a new trailer showcasing sinister experiments in the latest Onimusha, and of course, they’re all out to kill you.

A brand-new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword takes players deeper into its dark fantasy world, revealing an eerie new location. The footage introduces terrifying enemies and highlights the swordplay combat mechanics at the game’s core. Beneath Kyoto lies a secret laboratory, where a malevolent entity named Dokyo is creating new Genma. These abominations include the Greater Nue, a lightning-wielding chimera; the Kogashira, humans twisted by parasitic Genma that spew toxic Malice clouds; and the Chijiko, a grotesque amalgam of human faces fused into a writhing mass with long-reaching tendrils.

To survive these horrors, protagonist Miyamoto Musashi unleashes his powers, including the iconic Issen and Soul Absorption abilities central to the Onimusha experience. Deflect reflects enemy attacks—including projectiles—back at them, while Parry staggers foes with a well-timed block, creating opportunities for counterattacks. Successfully landing multiple parries triggers Blazing State, a temporary offensive buff that generates Blue Souls, fueling Oni Power special attacks.

Soul Absorption lets players choose the right moment to absorb fallen enemies’ souls, restoring health, upgrading gear, and unlocking new abilities. With Issen, players can strike just before an enemy attack lands, unleashing a high-risk, high-reward counterattack that remains a hallmark of the franchise.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is slated for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
