[GC 2025] Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy XIV Are Collaborating Both Ways! [VIDEO]

Capcom and Square Enix will collaborate in both directions, so it won’t just be one franchise stepping into the other—it will go both ways.

At Gamescom Opening Night Live, two gaming giants collided on stage: Ryozo Tsujimoto, producer of Monster Hunter Wilds, and Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P), director and producer of Final Fantasy XIV Online, appeared together to announce a major crossover between the two beloved RPGs.

The special collaboration is scheduled to launch in late September alongside the free Title Update 3 for Monster Hunter Wilds. The update will bring iconic Final Fantasy elements, such as chocobos, into the Forbidden Lands. Hunters will also face a new narrative quest featuring the mechanical superboss Omega Planetes. Capcom has yet to reveal any additional details regarding the Final Fantasy XIV crossover.

Meanwhile, Square Enix has also confirmed that a special crossover event between Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy XIV will begin in early October. However, the company remained tight-lipped, leaving fans guessing. Most speculate it could involve cosmetic items, but nothing has been confirmed so far.

This isn’t the first time the Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy franchises have crossed paths with other IPs, so it’s not a surprise that the two Japanese studios finally decided to work together. Of course, this doesn’t mean either game will expand to new platforms, though both share a presence on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, and PlayStation 4, while Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
