Since it’s still an unannounced remake, the Japanese company can’t really keep the situation under wraps.
Resident Evil: Code Veronica stands out a little from the rest of the franchise, but it’s still considered one of the mainline entries. First released for the SEGA Dreamcast in early 2000, it later arrived on the PlayStation 2 in 2001 and the Nintendo GameCube in 2003. In fall 2011, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions were also released. Rumor has it that a remake is in the works, and insider Dusk Golem—a fairly reliable source when it comes to the franchise—spoke about it on Twitter, though he said he won’t comment further until after Resident Evil Requiem (aka RE9) is released.
(1/5) I’m going to answer four Code Veronica Remake questions, then no more until after RE9.
Resident Evil Requiem is what’s out next, what I’m looking forward to right now, it’s where my focus will be, so will ignore any Code Veronica questions until after RE9 is out.

“I’m going to answer four Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake questions. Not only have I heard that it’s ahead of schedule, but Resident Evil Zero Remake was recently delayed after some kind of developer reboot late last year. Taking that into account, I think it’s far more likely that Code Veronica will come first, even though the original plan was the other way around. The remake is directed by Yasuhiro Anpo and Kazunori Kadoi, the same duo behind the Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Steve will still have feelings for Claire, but it will be portrayed in a more innocent way. His perverse traits are pushed aside in favor of being abrasive, overly curious, and poor at respecting personal boundaries. Wesker will have a much bigger role because the H.C.F. has become a central plot point in the Code Veronica Remake. We’ll get full details, more scenes with Wesker and the H.C.F., and they’ll play a bigger role in the story. As many predicted, Wesker’s fight with Chris is now a boss battle—he no longer fights Alexa,” wrote Dusk Golem.
The only question now is when Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake will actually be announced. Perhaps at the end of 2026 during The Game Awards? It wouldn’t be a huge surprise, but you never know.
