Bloober Team Plans the Future of Horror Games on Nintendo, Too!

The Polish studio is currently working on Cronos: The New Dawn, does not want to neglect the Nintendo Switch 2. The studio aims to release more horror games on the Nintendo platform.

Many studios develop horror games, but few focus exclusively on them as the Bloober Team does. They have made a few missteps along the way, but after the impressive Silent Hill 2 Remake, they have clearly found the right direction. It looks like the upcoming Cronos: The New Dawn will also be a success when it is released for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

In an interview with The Game Business, Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, said that it was not a mistake for the studio to put effort into releasing Cronos: The New Dawn on the Nintendo Switch 2. In addition to making the game accessible to players who cannot buy it on other platforms, Babieno grew up as a Nintendo fan and wants to bring back the era when Nintendo was known for more than just family and children’s games.

“I’m trying to make my personal dreams come true. I am a huge Nintendo fan. I grew up with Nintendo consoles. The best horror games, such as Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil 0, and Resident Evil 4, were available on the Nintendo GameCube. It was a golden era for Nintendo fans. In some ways, we would like to be the ones to open a new chapter for Nintendo right now. We have plans. However, we are not yet able to share our vision for the future. But Nintendo fans can definitely keep an eye on Bloober Team.”

“In the last few years, we haven’t reduced our staff at Bloober Team. This is very important because I believe that if we have teams making great games who understand our DNA, it’s easier to create new projects. I think this is another parallel with Nintendo because they also try to achieve things with a similar spirit. Our goal isn’t to be the biggest player on the Polish stock exchange. Our goal is to be the best horror game developer,” Babieno said.

The Switch isn’t completely devoid of horror games. Alien: Isolation is arguably one of the best horror games of the last two decades, and it has an excellent Switch port. Still, the platform isn’t overflowing with horror games. In fact, horror doesn’t even appear as a genre filter when browsing titles in the eShop.
