Disney May Hand Daisy Ridley an Adventure Role That Feels Like an Indiana Jones Successor

MOVIE NEWS – Daisy Ridley is slowly making her way back to the galaxy far, far away with a new sequel set after The Rise of Skywalker. But at the same time, she may also be stepping into a completely different world: headlining a comic book adaptation Disney has been sitting on for nearly ten years without movement. While Disney’s fortunes have largely been tied to the Marvel juggernaut, this project has nothing to do with Iron Man or the Avengers. Instead, it’s based on Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant, a lesser-known graphic novel by Tony Cliff.

The comic, first published in 2013, introduces readers to a 19th-century adventurer:
“Delilah Dirk is a roguish, quick-witted traveler who’s seen Japan, Indonesia, France, and the Americas. She uses her worldly skills to outwit a corrupt Sultan in Constantinople, aided by her flying boat and loyal ally, Selim. Together, they escape soldiers, leave pirates in their wake, and cut a swath across the countryside. For Delilah, one adventure always leads straight into another.”

It’s an unexpected direction for Ridley, as many assumed Disney’s focus with her would remain firmly on Star Wars. The report, shared by insider Daniel Richtman, didn’t specify when the film might happen, meaning it could easily be slotted after her in-development New Jedi Order installment.

Could This Be Ridley’s Long-Awaited Comic Book Franchise?

For years, Daisy Ridley’s name has been tossed around for superhero projects that never came together — from Olivia Wilde’s abandoned Spider-Woman effort to rumored MCU castings. This new opportunity might finally give her the breakout comic book role she’s been linked to for so long. And given that audiences seem fatigued by Marvel and DC’s biggest icons, adapting a fresher, lesser-known property could be exactly the right move.

Disney has owned the rights to Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant since 2016 but left the project idle. Now, with the void left by the end of the Indiana Jones saga, Ridley’s swashbuckling turn could be seen as the perfect fit for fans craving globe-trotting adventures.

If this film truly is gaining traction, we’ll likely hear more soon — possibly even before we get concrete updates on Ridley’s return to Star Wars, which remains stuck in slow development.
