Nintendo Switch 2: Getting the Resident Evil Franchise?

According to a rumor, the latest installments of the Resident Evil franchise will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2, albeit in a slightly different way than we saw with the original Switch.

Dusk Golem, an apparent Capcom insider, claims that not only will Resident Evil Requiem be released on the Nintendo Switch 2, but also that Capcom is planning to port every Resident Evil game running on the RE Engine to the hybrid platform, which launched in June. Here’s the twist: unlike the original Switch, where some titles were cloud-only, all of these will run natively on the hardware. Players sticking with the old Switch will either need to rely on cloud streaming or upgrade their console.

“Capcom has been working on porting all the RE Engine Resident Evil games to the Nintendo Switch 2 for a while now. Resident Evil Requiem should also be released on the Nintendo Switch 2. Rumor has it that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be featured in this week’s Nintendo Direct. However, I don’t have good insight into Capcom’s marketing plans. I’ve just heard very reliably several times now that they’re all coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 sooner or later. That includes Requiem, as well as Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Resident Evil: Village, and Resident Evil 4 Remake. I’ll mention that these are native ports running on the hardware and not streaming versions like the Switch 1 had,” wrote Dusk Golem on Twitter.

Currently, the following Resident Evil games are available on Nintendo platforms: Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil Revelations, Resident Evil Revelations 2, and Resident Evil 6. Titles such as Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, and Resident Evil: Village are only available as cloud versions.
