The CFI-2100 code-named PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is now available on European Amazon websites (though the site has not officially launched in the region yet).

Rumors suggested that the new hardware version of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, featuring a smaller SSD compared to the current models, truly exists, and the latest developments indicate it will soon spread more widely across Europe. The CFI-2100 hardware revision, which leaked earlier this month and comes with an 825 GB SSD instead of the current 1 TB drive, is now listed on Amazon Italy, France, and Germany. While the French Amazon site has already sold out, it remains purchasable on the Italian and German sites, though the shipping deadlines — October 23 in Germany and between November 11, 2026, and March 31, 2027, in Italy — suggest it has not officially launched across the continent yet.

Who first leaked the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition CFI-2100? Someone quite reliable: billbil-kun, who reported on this model back in early September on the French website Dealabs. However, the new system had already surfaced months earlier in certification documents filed in Japan, which described in detail how this latest version was created to optimize production costs, achieved in part by equipping it with a smaller-capacity SSD than previous PlayStation 5 Digital Edition models.

Considering that the CFI-2100 will be sold at the same price as the older versions equipped with a 1 TB NVMe SSD, those planning to purchase a PlayStation 5 soon may want to buy the older Digital Edition models while they are still available. Of course, this is recommended only for those who do not require a Blu-ray drive. (With the PlayStation Store’s share growing every quarter, that group is steadily expanding.)
