Resident Evil Requiem: Proof of the Nintendo Switch 2’s Power! [VIDEO]

Capcom’s game, announced for the system during Nintendo Direct, already shows that it will hold up well on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Based on the footage released so far, Resident Evil Requiem looks to be one of the most striking Switch 2 ports coming in 2026. Editors at Digital Foundry, in their latest weekly podcast, compared the trailer showcasing the Capcom franchise’s next installment on Switch 2 with its PC counterpart. They highlighted how remarkable this port appears thanks to its use of ray tracing (RT) technology, with Nintendo’s next-gen hybrid console seemingly providing solid support for RT.

The side-by-side trailers reveal that RTGI (ray-traced global illumination) is present in the Switch 2 version, offering a look very similar to other systems, though with some reductions in visual fidelity—such as hair rendering, shadow map resolution, and reflections, since this build appears to lack ray-traced reflections. Performance also looks somewhat unstable, but considering the footage comes from a pre-release build, there’s every chance Capcom will improve optimization before launch.

Capcom has been very secretive about whether Leon S. Kennedy—one of the franchise’s central characters since Resident Evil 2—will return in Requiem’s story. It’s possible that the Tokyo Game Show could shed some light on this, although the company may choose to keep it hidden until the very last moment. (And what about a demo? It’s been standard practice so far.)

Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled to release on February 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Two other Switch 2 titles are also arriving that day, which we’ve previously covered in detail.
