Konami and NeoBards Entertainment’s new horror title has reached its first milestone in record time: set in feudal Japan, the game sold over one million copies worldwide in just a single day.
The release of Silent Hill f was highly anticipated for two major reasons: it’s the first major original installment in the series in many years (although The Short Message had an original story, it was a standalone experience), and it stands among the biggest horror releases of 2025. With acclaimed Japanese writer Ryukishi07 involved and the story set in feudal Japan, many expected the game to capture the attention of countless fans — and now we have confirmation. Konami has announced that Silent Hill f has already surpassed its first major milestone, even outperforming Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC since September 25, the game has proven the franchise is back in peak form. According to the publisher’s official website, “f” has achieved a sales rate even higher than that of the recent Silent Hill 2 Remake. Both in Japan and Western markets, the reception has been immediate, with over one million copies sold worldwide in less than 24 hours after launch.
Silent Hill F Hits the Million Milestone Faster Than Silent Hill 2 Remake
For comparison, Silent Hill 2 Remake, developed by Bloober Team, took seven days to reach one million units sold after its release on October 8, 2024. In both cases, the figures do not include early access: both Silent Hill 2 Remake and f offered two days of early access for players who purchased the Deluxe edition.
Konami also highlighted the title’s creative achievements and the involvement of several renowned figures. Ryukishi07 penned the script, celebrated for his psychological horror visual novels. Kera handled the creature and character designs, while Kensuke Inage joined veteran composer Akira Yamaoka to create the haunting soundtrack. Together, they’ve crafted a deeply immersive and unsettling atmosphere.
Silent Hill f aims to establish itself as the new standard-bearer for the franchise, alongside Silent Hill 2 Remake, one of 2024’s biggest releases. Its impressive early sales demonstrate the project’s ambition — and all signs point to Konami continuing to invest heavily in expanding the series in the years to come.
