Silent Hill 2 Remake: Coming Soon to More Than Just the Xbox Series?

In a matter of days, Bloober Team and Konami’s game will end its PlayStation console exclusivity, and we can expect to see it on more than just Microsoft hardware.

With the recent release of Silent Hill f on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, we may have forgotten that the 2024 remake of Silent Hill 2 is still only available on PlayStation 5. That exclusivity ends this week, which means users of other platforms will finally have the chance to try the critically acclaimed remake. The remake was released on October 8 of last year for PlayStation 5 and PC.

According to Rebs Gaming, the exclusivity ends on October 8. Konami likely signed a one-year contract with Sony, meaning Silent Hill 2 Remake could launch anywhere on Wednesday. Changes to the game’s website suggest that Konami and Bloober Team have made all the necessary preparations. Rebs Gaming also noticed additional slots on the Silent Hill 2 site on either side of the listed platforms.

It’s not yet clear how these two empty slots will be used, but given the end of exclusivity and the other platforms, they are likely reserved for Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2. Despite recent developments around the Xbox brand, Silent Hill 2 Remake is expected to launch there soon. Silent Hill f launched simultaneously on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

A release on the Nintendo Switch 2 is also expected. Although Silent Hill f is not available on Nintendo’s new console, more and more visually demanding third-party titles are being ported to it, as the hardware is powerful enough to run them. Bringing the remake to Switch 2 would be a major milestone for the Silent Hill series, which has rarely appeared on Nintendo platforms.

The only time a Silent Hill game was available on a Nintendo console in the West was when Shattered Memories launched on the Wii. There was also a visual novel adaptation of the original game, released exclusively in Japan for the Game Boy Advance.
