A fresh rumor has surfaced surrounding the remake released exactly one year ago, suggesting it could soon be added to a subscription platform and launch on new systems.
Recent reports suggest that the Silent Hill 2 Remake — which launched on October 8, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and PC — could theoretically arrive on Xbox Series consoles starting today. According to the same leak, Nintendo Switch 2 might also receive James Sunderland’s haunting story. At the same time, a PlayStation 5 Pro patch is expected to roll out, something developer Bloober Team mentioned about four months ago, assuring fans that support for Sony’s mid-generation console refresh had not been forgotten.
The remake is reportedly on its way to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, giving PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers access to the title. The leak comes from trusted insider billbil-kun of Dealabs, whose track record with PlayStation Plus announcements has been highly reliable — he has leaked the monthly Essential lineup multiple times in advance. According to him, the game will join PlayStation Plus Extra on October 21. Billbil-kun also recently revealed that Alan Wake 2 would be added to PlayStation Plus Essential, a claim Sony later confirmed during its most recent State of Play presentation.
Konami and Bloober Team are teaming up again
Silent Hill 2 Remake has sold over two million copies so far, prompting Konami to partner once again with Bloober Team — this time to remake the original entry in the iconic horror series. A remake is long overdue, given that the first Silent Hill was released exclusively on PlayStation 1 back in 1999. Meanwhile, the prolific Polish studio has already released a new sci-fi horror title based on its own brand-new franchise, Cronos: New Dawn.
The PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium library has been thinning out recently, and Sony has confirmed during State of Play which three additional games will join the Premium lineup before the end of the year.
