Hogwarts Legacy: A Quest That “Shocks” the Audience

This haunting side quest can now be experienced on all platforms — previously a PlayStation exclusive, it’s finally available for everyone just in time for Halloween.

Hogwarts Legacy players are still shaken by one of the game’s scariest missions, which has become a perfect pick for the spooky season. Since the title was added to Xbox Game Pass, a wave of new players has flooded in — and many are in for quite a fright. As one of the most successful Harry Potter games ever made, the title continues to set high expectations for the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy 2. Among its many side quests, however, one stands out for sending chills down players’ spines.

The Haunted Hogsmeade mission was originally exclusive to PlayStation, sparking outrage among fans. It has since become available on all platforms, allowing new players — particularly those on Xbox — to experience its terrifying story for the first time. One player shared their reaction on Reddit, admitting that the quest completely traumatized them. Although it’s unclear which platform they were playing on, their story quickly spread across the community.

In a Reddit post, user gaelthegal wrote: “I didn’t know that Hogwarts Legacy had a horror side quest, and I’m traumatized. There’s a quest in Hogsmeade where you can buy a shop. I thought it would be a simple, light-hearted mission. But then I found a chest that I thought contained free loot — turns out, it triggered a horror quest. I have a phobia of mannequins and statues, so I ended up asking my partner to help me… and we played it at night!”

The quest is considered one of the most entertaining and well-designed in the entire game, which made its PlayStation exclusivity all the more frustrating at the time. Many players echoed gaelthegal’s reaction, admitting that the mannequins and eerie movements truly unsettled them. One comment even joked: “Welcome to the traumatized club.”

With Haunted Hogsmeade now available across all platforms, it’s not just one of Hogwarts Legacy’s best side quests — it’s also the perfect Halloween nightmare for anyone brave enough to play it after dark.
