Ubisoft is keeping the port under wraps, but more and more signs suggest that this year’s Assassin’s Creed is coming to Nintendo’s new platform as well…
An advertisement for the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Switch 2 version has appeared on a French retailer’s website, increasing the likelihood of an official announcement. Auchan listed the game along with the visible cover and the following (French-language) description: “Enjoy Assassin’s Creed Shadows in a whole new way with Nintendo Switch 2.” If the cover is accurate, it confirms that the still-unannounced game will use a Game-Key Card format, similar to Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws: Gold Edition for Nintendo Switch 2.
This would bring two more Ubisoft titles to the Nintendo Switch 2, though from a game preservation standpoint, both represent a problematic approach. The Game-Key Card means the game isn’t fully stored on the cartridge, so an internet connection will be required to download the full data needed to play. If Cyberpunk 2077 has already proven that a full-scale AAA game can fit on a Switch 2 cartridge, why can’t others manage the same?
We’ve been waiting several months for the official announcement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Nintendo Switch 2, ever since it first appeared on the PEGI website in April. At the time, the game ranked first among the most-searched titles on PEGI’s database, with supported platforms listed as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The Switch 2 isn’t shown on the actual PEGI game listing, but this may be because PEGI hides platforms that haven’t been officially confirmed yet — and this hidden tag may have surfaced on the main page by mistake.
After Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws port last month, players are now more open to the idea of Assassin’s Creed Shadows arriving on the Nintendo Switch 2.
