MOVIE NEWS – Oscar and Golden Globe-winning American actress Diane Keaton has died at the age of 79. International media outlets have begun reporting what happened before she was hospitalized – and now a 911 call recording has revealed the haunting final moments of her life.
On Saturday, Diane Keaton, one of the most influential figures in cinema, passed away. The 79-year-old actress left behind an incredible legacy with unforgettable performances in classics such as Annie Hall, The Godfather trilogy, The First Wives Club, and Father of the Bride. According to TMZ, as reported by Daily Mail and Fox News, a 911 emergency call recording has surfaced, detailing what happened to Keaton in her final moments. The caller reportedly contacted authorities shortly after 8 a.m. local time to report that someone had collapsed at the actress’s home.
The dispatcher immediately notified the Los Angeles Fire Department, as the caller couldn’t access the property. According to TMZ, firefighters transported Keaton to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. It remains unclear why firefighters were dispatched instead of paramedics, though it may have been because firefighters are equipped to enter locked buildings.
Close friends of Keaton revealed that her health had been deteriorating rapidly in recent months. One friend said that in her final days, the 79-year-old actress appeared “very thin,” after experiencing sudden weight loss. “In her last months, she only allowed her closest family members near her. They decided to keep everything secret. Even her longtime friends didn’t know what was really happening,” one source told Fox News.
Grammy- and Oscar-winning songwriter Carole Bayer Sager also spoke about her final visit to Keaton, which took place just a few weeks before her passing. “I saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was already very thin. She had lost an incredible amount of weight,” Sager said, adding that Keaton had been deeply shaken by the wildfires that hit Los Angeles in January. “She had to temporarily move to Palm Springs after her home was badly damaged. When she returned, I was shocked at how much weight she had lost,” she added.
Earlier this year, Keaton made a surprising decision: in March, she put her beloved “dream home” up for sale – a move that surprised many of her friends, since she had previously said she wanted to spend the rest of her life there. She moved into the house in 2017 and spent eight years renovating it to her taste.
Friends and colleagues of Keaton have shared touching tributes and memories of the beloved American actress, which we have gathered in a separate article.
