Samsung Galaxy XR: It Will Make Things Difficult for Apple’s M5 Vision Pro!

TECH NEWS – The South Korean tech giant priced its Galaxy XR headset considerably cheaper than Apple’s device.

Samsung is offering its new headset for $1,800, while Apple’s Vision Pro with the M5 chip costs $3,500. This offers phenomenal value for money. The Galaxy XR is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 SoC, whose CPU and GPU are 20% and 15% faster, respectively, than the traditional XR2 Gen 2 SoC. It also supports 12 ms full-color video transmission. The XR also features Qualcomm’s Hexagon NPU for faster onboard AI processing and has 16 GB of RAM. The Galaxy XR has 256 GB of storage, whereas Apple’s device offers a maximum of 1 TB.

Its 6.3-micron pixel pitch micro-OLED display has an 8K-level resolution (3552 x 3840) and 27 million pixels. It has refresh rates of 60, 72, and 90 Hz (the M5 Vision Pro has a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz). The display has 95% DCI-P3 coverage and horizontal and vertical fields of view of 109° and 100°, respectively. Video playback is at UHD 8K resolution (7680 x 4320) at 60 FPS. The Samsung Galaxy XR weighs 545 grams, which is lighter than the 600-gram M5 Vision Pro.

It has two high-resolution transmission cameras, six motion tracking cameras, four eye tracking cameras, depth sensors, and six microphones. Special features include iris recognition, Dolby Atmos, and support for HDR10 and HLG videos. The headset features Google Gemini AI integration, which allows you to use Gemini as a Google Maps guide, ask questions about a video you’ve already watched, or let Gemini find the right video for you on YouTube. Pass Through mode enables users to draw circles in their field of vision, allowing Gemini to provide information about the objects within the circles. Users can bring their photos and videos to life by converting 2D images into 3D.

Samsung’s headset battery lasts for two hours of general use and 2.5 hours of video playback. This is shorter than Apple’s device, which lasts for three hours of video playback.
