The Coalition and Xbox Game Studios revealed more details about the new Gears of War multiplayer mode.
The very first hands-on previews of Multiplayer in Gears of War: E-Day will be going live across the internet. If we’re eager to learn more, the developers have a video for us. They’re excited to unveil the first trailer for Multiplayer, complete with a Metallica soundtrack, as well as a comprehensive deep dive packed with new information. The trailer starts with an intense look at Horde Siege, the new 12-player, three-squad player-versus-environment mode, and the return of Versus. Then, The Coalition’s developers provide a more in-depth look.
Along the way, we learn more about Horde Siege, an evolution of the beloved original Horde mode. Set across the biggest multiplayer maps ever seen in the series, Horde Siege sends three squads of four on individual missions across the same stage. This results in wildly unpredictable battles. There’s a lot to learn here, from how classes work to how optional objectives reward us and our squad, so make sure to watch for all the details. That’s only half of it. We also learn about the return of Versus. The classic player-versus-player experience has evolved with the addition of E-Day‘s new movement mechanics. These mechanics allow for the squad-based chaos you’re familiar with and brand-new ways to make clutch plays and win the round for your side. We also learned about the four modes included in Versus and got a sneak peek at what’s coming to the game after launch.
The best way to experience Multiplayer is to play it ourselves after watching the trailer and deep dive. Drop into the Early Access Open Beta starting August 6 by pre-ordering on Xbox Series or Steam or by subscribing to Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.
Gears of War: E-Day is set to release on October 6 for Xbox Series and PC. The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass. A PlayStation 5 port was previously planned, but it has since been canceled. They did the same thing with Starfield.
